GDPR

On May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has come into force. With this European regulation the privacy legislation has been modernized. The GDPR contains rules about the processing of personal data and the free movement of these data. On May 25, 2018, the Personal Data Protection Act lapsed. Since then, the provisions of the GDPR apply.

Privacy and protection of personal data

BTC Direct is not subject to legislation that regulates financial institutions and markets. However, we believe it is important to play our part in preventing fraud and money laundering on the digital currency market. We do this, for example, by conducting a 'Know Your Customer' policy. Would you like to use our services? Then we will ask you for documentation which confirms your identity.

Only with your permission

We only process personal data with your consent. You give your consent by agreeing to this privacy policy. You can withdraw your consent at any time. However, this does not affect the lawfulness of the use of your data before the withdrawal. Would you like to withdraw your permission? We will then delete all your personal data from all of our systems as quickly as possible, unless there is a legal obligation to keep data. If you ask us to delete your data, this means we will have to close your account, unfortunately.

Your personal data

Would you like to use our services? Then you will need to register on our platform. When you register you will automatically be signed up for the weekly newsletter. You also share your personal data with us, such as:

• First and last name
• Residential Address
• Phone number and email address
• Identification Document
• IP address

In addition, we also need the following information for a successful transaction:

• IBAN
• Wallet address

Moreover, we will save the time and date of your registration. We do this to protect ourselves against misuse of your data by third parties who have registered on our platform without your knowledge.

Special personal data

With your permission we will also process so called special personal data. We receive a copy of every user’s Identity Document. The passport photo that is visible on that document is considered special personal data. We can also ask for income and asset data. We need this information for additional customer research. This is considered special personal data as well.

Who do we work with?

The following parties help us to optimize our services:

• MailChimp provides the technology to send the newsletter. This way you stay up to date on weekly crypto news.
• Cloudflare ensures that our website does not overload in times of high demand. Bitcoin soars to 100.000 euros? Our infrastructure is able to handle that.
• Zendesk supplies the software for our Support team. This way we can continue to deliver the fast and correct handling you are accustomed to.
• Mitek checks the legal validity of the Identity Documents of our customers. Your safety is very important to us.
• Hotjar helps us to perfect the usability of our website. The more user-friendly our website is, the faster you will be able to find what you need.
• Gruveo & LiveChat is used by our Support team to serve you directly. Check our contact page for more information.

Storage period

We store data regarding your transactions for at least seven years. Storing this data for our financial administration is a legal obligation. Other data, such as your Identity Document or Residential Address, will be stored until you withdraw your consent. When there is a legal requirement we will keep the data as well.

Cookies

BTC Direct uses cookies. A cookie is a small data file in which your browser stores some data. These are not personal data, but enable us to see that you have been on our website before. Through the cookies we recognize your IP address.

Our website uses two types of cookies. Analytical cookies help us to keep track of visitor statistics and give us an insight into the functioning of the website. Google Analytics and Hotjar help us to analyse this data.. Your rights

In line with the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to access, correct, and supplement your personal data. You also have the right to have your personal data removed.
